So my campaign train is on DOWN Syndrome. Please don’t say the world is talking ‘End Sars’ and this woman is still talking DS. I am with you in spirit and I pray the youths will after now, join us moms and siblings to mount pressure for an environmental change in the area of special needs.
That being said, I’ll be sharing the story of a teenager. Actually, her elder brother wrote the story. Please read!
Sometimes I feel like I’m the one who is special. I feel so favored by God to be Ele’s elder brother. We prayed for her; we hoped for her. And God gave us a gift (that’s the meaning of her name).
Personally, I’ve never perceived her as disadvantaged, only unique. God in His infinite wisdom instilled in her uncommon virtues that the so-called “regular kids” can only dream of. Ele was God’s wild card in the twist of fate that our family experienced.
She was only 5 years old when my mum passed on but she filled in the gap in a way that is nothing short of miraculous. In the midst of 3 stoic and bereaved men, Ele brought peace, warmth, and light into our hearts. Her smile, her ambiance, her selfless thoughtfulness… these were God’s intentional alternatives to a speedy cognitive development process for her.
Sometimes it’s easy to forget how young she is. Her sense of responsibility is off-the-charts. In place of carefully articulated speech, she communicates love in the most wordless yet effective ways. Perhaps God used some tissues from her frontal cerebral hemispheres to create an extra layer to her heart muscles.
I wish to appreciate specially The Engraced Ones for creating a community where even though I’m passively participatory, I feel like I’m not alone in the challenges and joys of being so closely associated with a special child. It is an experience that imaginations cannot convey. It is a blessing: it is God’s gift to us
Throwback to when Jks team joined the Engraced Ones, a prayer support group for parents and lovers of children with special needs to celebrate World Cerebral palsy day ….Thank God it was a success.
‘Still on Siblings love, we have Ebi sharing about her passionate love for her younger sister, Mimi.
My name is Ebi and I’ll be sharing my experiences with my sister Mimi. When she was born, I practically knew nothing about her being a special child. I I didn’t even know what it meant to be a special child. What really bothered me that time was oh “I will probably never be part of my sister’s life’ since I was just getting into boarding school.
Over the years, I’ve grown to understand whatever the doctors said was wrong with her. Well, they said and still say what they can see but I see better. I can say confidently that i couldn’t have asked for better. Miracle indeed has been a miracle. She is amazing in all forms of the word itself.
There are times I go out with her and people just look at her and I know they want to say some things but trust me they wouldn’t dare well unless I don’t know them so I can choose to ignore them because I know that they may just never understand because they choose not to and its fine.
In church one day, my friend saw us together wearing the same cloth and how we were all over each other and she was like she doesn’t know how I manage to love my sister so much because she knows someone else that has a sister with D.S and acts like she doesn’t know her when they are outside. And I told her that well that just has to be a loss on her part because she doesn’t see the bigger picture. I see the bigger picture. I see that Miracle is far above what the world says and sees . She is far more intelligent than a lot of the seemingly normal children. She is well behaved, nice, courteous and every thing a proper child is.
I have grown to love her with my life and I’m ready to do just anything for her. I have never thought of her as different from us and I never will. Miracle is a part of my life that I’m grateful for every day. When my brother was much younger he said to me that I love Miracle more than him and I told him that I love them both equally but she may need a little more care and attention and I’m glad he understands that even till today.
Even when I talk to my friends now they first person they ask of is Miracle . Sometimes immediately she comes they would rather even talk to her than talk to me and I have to beg for my phone. Miracle and all other engraced children are the best gifts they world has but it’s just sad they fail to see that beauty and perfection in them.
If I ever have to choose between having her as a sister and having a seemingly normal sister…. I’LL CHOOSE HER A MILLION AND ONE TIMES OVER WITHOUT EVEN GIVING IT A THOUGHT. Miracle is my special baby and I’ll do just I will encourage other siblings to love their engraced siblings because you may not see them as amazing now but trust me they are a best part of life you won’t want to miss. Thank you and God bless you.”
Today I will be sharing some knowledge on Learning disorder.
A learning disorder is a wide variety of learning problems.in simple terms learning disability results from a difference in the way, a person’s brain is wired. Kids with learning disorders may have issues reading, writing, spelling, reasoning, recalling, or organizing information.
With the right support and intervention, children with learning disorders can awesomely succeed in school, careers later in life.
Not every great mind think alike. Did you know Walt Disney, General George Palton, vice president Nelson Rockefeller had trouble reading all their lives? How about the famous Albert Einstein? He couldn’t read until he was nine. This means if we put in the right support and intervention for our precious children with learning disorders they will do very well.
RECOGNIZING A CHILD WITH LEARNING DISORDERS.

Poor fine motor skills development.
Difficulty following directions or routines.
Some children with learning disorders may be extremely restless and easily distracted.
Poor coordination, unaware of physical surroundings and danger.
Learning disorders should not be confused with other disabilities such as Autism, behavioral disorders intellectual disabilities.
Getting a proper and accurate diagnosis is very key as this will enable you to plan the right support and intervention for your child.
No one knows the causes of learning disorders it could be genetic, environmental factors can play a role too.
THESE ARE THE COMMON LEARNING DISORDERS.
DYSLEXIA- is a language-based disability in which a child is having trouble understanding words, this may also be referred to as reading disorder.
DYSGRAPHIA- is a writing disability in which a child finds it hard to form letters or write Within a defined space.
DYSCALCULIA- is a mathematical disability in which a child has difficulty solving math and grasping math concepts.
AUDITORY AND VISUAL PROCESSING DISORDERS.- is a sensory disability in which a child has difficulty understanding language despite normal hearing and vision.
If your child is a visual learner, they learn best by seeing or reading, may love to draw, read, or write, do well when the material is presented visually.
AUDITORY LEARNERS learn best by listening, benefits from classroom discussions. May love music, language, and being on stage.
KINESTHETIC LEARNERS learn by doing and moving. Do well when they can touch, move, and explore, love to be engaged on hand on hand activities, field trips, sports, drama, dance, arts, and craft.
I hope this helps someone.
Together we can achieve. Remain bless and stay safe
