In 7 out of every 10 conversations I hold with special moms, they decry the insensitive manner in which most officials in the medical sector handle issues relating to their children with special needs.
It’s even more worrisome when you find some doctors in a city like Abuja who know little or nothing about special needs. If you don’t know at least make informed referrals!
All this, ‘madam take your child home, he will out grow it’ doesn’t work! I believe 🇳🇬 has grown past that!
For hospitals who still do not have physiotherapy and other such units, come on!!!
Doctors and other medical practitioners please listen up. Year after year we have seen people exceed medical limits. Please be mindful of the mental health of parents and other caregivers when passing on information
While acknowledging the love some educators have for our adorables, it’s nice to guide against ‘assumptions’. Please do not assume all children with the condition behave alike. Be consistent and ensure you monitor the learner progress.
